A GUEST LECTURE AT INSTITUTE OF PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCH



As we all know Institute Of Pharmaceutical Research, GLA University is land of opportunity. Each day teaches us something new and exciting which enhances our knowledge thereby resulting in overall growth. A similar opportunity was provided to us by Institute Of Pharmaceutical Research, GLA University in form of a guest lecture by Dr Anil Kumar, Professor, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Punjab University Chandigarh. He is a very eminent personality who has worked extensively in field of pharmacological Investigation of Central Nervous System with a number of research publications for the same.
He gave presentation on the topic “Pharmacological Investigation of Herbal Hypnotics”. As we all know that insomnia is most common problem of present time with every second person suffering from it. Although a number of synthetic drugs are available in the market but there intolerable adverse effect cannot be ignored. Therefore our focus is sifting to herbal drugs as they posses lesser or no adverse effect. His presentation elaborated on the same “use of herbal drugs as hypnotics”. He also focused on the various screening model for pharmacological investigation drugs acting on CNS. He divulged in the various problems and hurdles a researcher face during investigation related to CNS and elaborated on how problem can be solved and hurdles overcome. He answered all the queries put to him by student and faculty members present. In the end I would like to thank Prof Pradeep Mishra, Director, Institute Of Pharmaceutical Research, GLA University and Dr Harlokesh Narayan Yadav, Head of Department (Pharmacology), Institute Of Pharmaceutical Research, GLA University for providing us with such wonderful opportunity and enriching experience.
